eViwe Community Centre Mossel Bay

eViwe Community Forum Centre located in

Kwa-Nonqaba

Mossel Bay

BACKGROUND

The eViwe eCommunity Centre launched in Mossel Bay on 07 February 2009.  The centre was fortunate to be launched by the presents of the Director General Mrs. Virginia Peterson and other senior officials within the DG’s office and the office of the Premier.  The launch was a great success.
eViwe eCommunity Centre is approximately operating for a period of 1year and has already service approximately 3700 clients in the area of Mossel Bay.  There a number of challenges that the centre is encountering as it operates in a very poor area.  In our research findings we have found that there is poverty and a high rate of crime in the township due to unemployment.  The centre was the first computer and information service to the community in the township since 1980.
The centre future plans are to come up with local initiative training whilst waiting for the accreditation of the Cape Access training.  This local initiative will add value to the local community as candidates will be receiving certificates in a modern fashion.
