(a) Short-term Interventions

(1) The responsible Minister to conditionally lift the suspension on the Wild Abalone Fishery which was implemented in February 2008 by 1 February 2010 . It is proposed that An Abalone Recovery Task Group be appointed by the end of October 2009. This Task Group should work towards the effective monitoring of the abalone resource by integrating scientific, managerial, compliance, social and economic planning. This Task Group, after considering advice from the Abalone Scientific Working Group and Independent Scientists should advise the Minister on the re-opening of the fishery and the allocation of the resource to right holders over the next three years. The survey and research process must include right holders.
