Overview and Background.

Beaufort West e-Community forum, Sisonke.com is a community development through technology programme. The Forum was launch 12 April 2008, and is based at Beaufort West Secondary School. Sisonke.com meaning ‘We All Together’ is about to unite our communities through free access to computers, internet, information and most of other communities in the Western Cape. The Forum consists of members in the communities which fulfill different roles in the forum to sustain the aims and objectives of the Forum and also Cape Access.

"The aim for the start of the Forum is to drive information society projects on behalf of Cape Access at local level and also to manage the e-centre where it’s going to operate from. It’s also an initiative to create an information society amongst our disadvantage, unemployed, able/disable citizens in our Beaufort West community".

 

We as Sisonke.com also aim to foresee the development in our community through technology. We further also want to contribute to above mentioned citizens, helping them in any capacity we able to in order to contribute to the betterment of our broad Beaufort West community. As a Forum we intend to concentrate not just on able and healthy community members , but will also put our emphasis on disable and people affected with HIV/Aids.

On 28 of September Sisonke E-Community forum will be having a Community meeting at the Mimosa Library at 15h00. The meeting will about the report back concerning the past six months. We also need to Introduce the committee. Inform and Report on ICDL Training. Events, projects and Opening of the new centre in Kwa Mandlenkosi!!!

Current Occurences at the forum

In this year we had the election of the new forum, Only 1 member was elected to be the Deputy Chairperson of Sisonke.com Bazel Banthom. We also had the chairperson meeting at Langebaan. The Development Manager and the Centre manager and Assistant were at the ICDL training.

Strategic Alignment October 2010


11/04/08

On the 23 of October 2010 we had our Strategic Alignment Session here at school. We discussed the budget of the forum preparing for next year. Murraysburg E-Community forum was present too on our strategic alignment session. Ayanda presented us with brilliant ideas that could be useful to every forum members. Her ideas basically were uplifting cape access and individuals as the whole. I have to say that were really impressed and we liked the ideas that she presented, they were positive and encourageous especially to forum members. I'm happy to say that everything was a success. We are finished with our strategic alignment planning and also our budget for 2011.
